Kukl - which means “Witch” in Icelandic – was an exciting, noisy, art/jazz/performance collective, featuring Bjork, Sigtryggur, Einar Orn – future members of The Sugarcubes – and other like minded Icelanders. Originally released via Crass Records outside of Iceland, Kukl steered clear of all conventions, choosing their own progressive post-punk sound ala PiL, Gang Of Four et al, but forging a creative vision all their own which ultimately lead to the formation of The Sugarcubes.
